I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of both Daddy and Mummy Akeju.
Their home in Yaba, Lagos holds many special memories for me. During our high school years, I spent many happy times there, including sleepovers, and they always made their home feel like a second home. Their door was open not only to their children’s friends, but to many of the young people in the neighbourhood. It was a place where we could gather, laugh, and simply enjoy our childhood.
Daddy was such a quiet, gentle, and accommodating man that you could sometimes hardly tell he was in the house, yet his calm presence was always felt. Mummy’s warmth and hospitality made everyone feel welcome and at ease.
I will always remember them with great fondness and gratitude for the kindness they showed. May their souls rest in perfect peace, and may the family find comfort in the beautiful memories they leave behind.

TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED PARENTS
Some people are not our biological parents, yet they love, care for, guide and nurture us like their own. That is exactly who you both were to me.
When I left Ekiti State for Lagos, God brought me into your home, and you both became more than family to me. You became my parents. I grew under your care, shared beautiful memories with you, and experienced an important part of my life with you by my side.
Mama, I will always remember your beautiful personality and your love for fashion. Daddy, I will never forget your love for newspapers and those little things that made you uniquely you. These memories are now treasures I will carry forever.
You both played a special role in my life, and I will always be grateful to God for bringing you into my journey. Your home was a place where I found love and belonging.
It is painful to say goodbye to two people I regarded as parents, but I am comforted by the beautiful memories we shared.
Thank you for loving me. Thank you for caring for me. Thank you for being my family and my parents.
You may be gone from this world, but you will forever remain in my heart.
Rest peacefully, my beloved Mama and Daddy. May your souls rest in perfect peace. Amen.

They were a couple defined by nobility and hospitality. Daddy Akeju, a renowned and accomplished Surveyor, was highly dependable and deeply knowledgeable. He was the epitome of humility—soft-spoken, gentle, and always impeccably neat. Your life was an inspiration, full of encouragement, and you were truly one of the best to me. Mummy Akeju was a joyful person who used her nursing profession to selflessly care for many, particularly within the Igede Ekiti community. She was deeply caring and generous with her love. May your souls continue to rest in perfect peace. Good night. Olukunle Joshua Dada Esq.

I grew up knowing Daddy and Mummy as an elegant, distinguished, and remarkable couple. Even as a toddler, I vividly remember how they would share breakfast with us in the mornings before continuing their journey to Lagos whenever they visited home in the 80s in old Ondo State. Those moments were always special to me, and I eagerly looked forward to them.
We fondly called them Daddy Èkó and Mummy Èkó. Daddy was one of the most disciplined, principled, and gentlemanly men I have ever known. His quiet dignity, intellectual depth, and unwavering sense of discipline left a lasting impression on me. Knowing that he was a mathematician also gave me an early conviction that Mathematics, as a subject, was not as difficult as it appeared.
Mummy, on the other hand, was the very embodiment of elegance, sophistication, and class. In addition to her medical practice, she was a businesswoman. I remember how my Dad would order my Christmas clothes, together with those of my siblings, from her. And when it was time for our much-anticipated Christmas fashion parade, thanks to her, we always made an impressive appearance!
As I grew into my teenage years, I found in Daddy not only an elder but also someone with whom I could engage in meaningful conversations about topical issues, be it Sport, Economy, Politics etc. He was always willing to listen and, with remarkable wisdom and patience, offer thoughtful counsel. For a young and inquisitive boy like me, those conversations were invaluable.
Looking back, I realise that beyond the words he spoke, he was quietly shaping my understanding of life.
Daddy was exceptionally close to my own father. On his arrival in those days from Benin, he will ask me, Broda nko?
Their relationship went far beyond ordinary ; they were brothers at another level. They shared experiences, interests, and many things in common. I still remember their car registration numbers from the 1980s: OD-3555-E and OD-5553-E. Even such seemingly insignificant details have become cherished memories today.
We will miss you both immensely. Your departure leaves a void that words cannot adequately express, but we are comforted by the hope of the resurrection and the assurance that, in the last days, we shall meet again.
Until that glorious day, Mummy and Daddy, continue to sleep peacefully in the Lord until the day of resurrection.
You lived lives worthy of remembrance, and your memories will remain indelibly etched in our hearts.
